The short answers.
Everything people ask us most — what an Agentic RPG actually is, how the AI agents and skill writing work, and how you'll play. Straight answers, no filler.
The facts.
Everything else.
It's a creature-collecting action-adventure RPG where the creatures aren't scripted movesets — they're real AI agents with memory, temperament, and behavior that evolves as you play. You collect them, write the skills that shape how they think, build and craft across an open world, and battle solo or in co-op. It's Pokémon/Palworld energy fused with genuine agentic AI.
Each pal is driven by a real AI model that reads the situation and decides which of its skills to use, and when — within the skills you've written for it. Crucially, the model only chooses what to do; a separate deterministic engine decides what actually happens. So a pal feels like a teammate making calls in the moment, not an animation replaying on a timer.
You write a few plain-markdown lines describing what your pal should watch for, when to act, and what to do — in a light in-game editor, or a full editor online. There's no scripting language to learn; you're describing intent. Your words are then prepared and signed offline so the engine can resolve them exactly, while your pal's AI reads the plain-language version to decide when the skill fits. Each pal carries up to four. See the Skills page for examples.
Skills are plain markdown you can read in full before you ever use one — there's no arbitrary code and nothing that can reach outside the match. They resolve inside the deterministic battle engine, every value stays within safe bounds, and skills are designed to be cryptographically signed so a tampered one simply won't load. Readable, bounded, and verifiable by design.
Battles resolve on the Agentic Battle Engine — a deterministic engine we built from scratch, kept entirely separate from the AI. The same inputs always produce the same outcome, so any battle can be replayed and independently re-verified. Your pal's AI chooses which skill to use; the engine decides what happens. And like a good card game, neither side sees the other's plan — battles are built on incomplete information.
Online features — cloud saves, co-op, trading — run on Epic Online Services, so your progress follows you across devices. But there's no always-online server you depend on to play: the world and your home base are yours, saved to the cloud, and designed to keep running even when you're offline.
AgentPals is built as a complete single-player RPG — the campaign is yours to play alone. Multiplayer is optional: online play runs on Epic Online Services, so you can team up for co-op, trade pals, and take on shared challenges whenever you want to.
We're building for PC first (Steam), with console and mobile planned. We'll confirm the exact platform lineup closer to launch.
We haven't announced pricing yet. AgentPals is pre-launch and in active development — join the mailing list and we'll share editions and pricing the moment they're set.
Yes — we're running closed private playtests, the first for the earliest 100 signups and then the first 1,000. Joining the mailing list puts you in the queue, and the earliest signups get priority. Apply on the Playtest page to tell us how you play.
We're targeting 2026, starting with the reveal and the Steam page, then the first private playtests. The roadmap on the Community page tracks exactly where we are — and we keep it honest.
Still curious? The Skills page breaks down authoring in full, the Creatures page introduces the pals, and the devblog goes deep on how it's all being built.
